Saturday Spotlight

Today's author is Stieg Larsson.


1. He was a Swedish journalist and writer who died suddenly at the age of 50 in November 2004.
2. He was the #2 best-selling author in the world in 2008, trailing only Khaled Hosseini.
3. At the time of his death, he left behind 3 unpublished novels in a series; as of now, that Millennium trilogy has sold 27 million copies in over 40 countries.
4. The first Millennium book is called The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (in the English translation by Reg Keeland); it won the prestigious Glass Key award as the best Nordic crime novel in 2005 (published in 2008 in the US).


5. The second Millennium book is called The Girl Who Played with Fire (in English); it received the Best Swedish Crime Novel Award in 2006 (published in the US in 2009).


6. The third Millennium book is called The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (in English); it also won the Glass Key award (2007) and is due out in the US next month.


7. He left the unfinished manuscript of the fourth novel, as well as synopses of the fifth and sixth; it was ultimately intended to be a ten book series.
