Group Picture-Stiff

We read a very unique and interesting book this month! I think most of us will be reading another book by Mary Roach. Very different!

I think Gary rushed through the picture-taking process this time! Good enough!
Heather re-joined this month after maternity leave/sabbatical!

Group Picture-All My Patients Have Tales

We read a fun, uplifting book this month. We needed it after last month's book. We loved this book...and we're going to read his follow-up book too! We're suckers for animal stories!

Linda is not pictured, but her iPad is, see right.

This meeting was a decoy event for the surprise party planned later in the day for Karen's 60th birthday! We pulled it off...barely!

Group Picture-The Sandcastle Girls

So, this book was a surprise to a lot of us. We were expecting a romance and that's not what we really got. Only two of us finished this book on time (we were thinking it would have been more of a quick read). I think we would have liked it better as a whole if we hadn't been expecting a different type of book.

We were mostly all new to the topic of the Armenian genocide. How could something so horrible be almost unknown to us?

Group Pictures-The Call

We had our book club Christmas party yesterday! Lots of cookies, gifts, and food! We had a great discussion of The Call. I think we all ended up liking this one (especially Veronica and Linda) besides Karen.

Group Pictures-The Handmaid's Tale

We met last week on November 18th to discuss The Handmaid's Tale. November 18th just happened to be Margaret Atwood's 73rd birthday! And we didn't even plan ahead for that one! The Handmaid's Tale was loved by some and not others, but it did prompt some great discussion...and that's why we love book club! We definitely recommend this one for other groups.

Group Picture-Kings of Colorado

Our pajama breakfast meeting was a huge success! Thanks to Susan for an enormous selection of food: croissants, bagels, French toast, bacon, biscuits, fruit, nutella, the list goes on...

Kings of Colorado was difficult to read at times for some of us do to the brutality and cruelty involving young boys and the horses. But, overall we found it to be an excellent novel. We had much to discuss about this one!

Group Picture-The Last Policeman

This month we read The Last Policeman by Ben H. Winters. Thanks to Eric at Quirk Books for sending it to us! We really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the second book in the planned trilogy! We also are anticipating the upcoming TV show. We highly suggest this book for book clubs!
