Saturday Spotlight

Today's author is Hilary Mantel.


1. She was born July 6, 1952 in Glossop, Derbyshire.
2. She attended the University of Sheffield and graduated as Bachelor of Jurisprudence.
3. Her first novel, Every Day is Mother's Day, was published in 1985.


4. The sequel to her first novel, Vacant Possession, was published the next year.


5. She lived in Saudi Arabia for four years and wrote a memoir and novel about it: Someone to Disturb and Eight Months on Ghazzah Street.


6. Her books have been nominated for and won various prizes: MIND Book of the Year, Orange Prize, Hawthornden Prize, Cheltenham Prize and others.
7. Her latest novel, Wolf Hall, won the 2009 Man Booker Prize.
