Although Larsson died in 2004, he was the second best-selling author in the world in 2008. The series is a trilogy, but there is speculation that it was intended to contain 10 books. He left a fourth novel almost completed at the time of his death. There are rumors that there are parts of a fifth and sixth book as well.
The Hollywood film adaptation is supposedly due out next December. It will star Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig.
