Did you participate in One Little Word in 2012?
My word for 2012 was ACCOMPLISH. In 2012, I accomplished a few things. I finished my residency and started a new job. I set up a new home office (I've been wanting to do for awhile). I was able to maintain ~90% of my weight loss from the previous year. I didn't accomplish as much with my reading. I only read a few extra books beyond the book club selections. More next year!
For 2013, my new word will be BALANCE. What will your word be?

One Little Word 2012
Did you participate in One Little Word this past year? My word for 2011 was CHANGE. Choosing a word worked for me. I joined Weight Watchers and started cooking at home. I was able to lose 40 pounds during the course of the year. How did you do?
My new word for 2012 is ACCOMPLISH. What will your word be?
The idea for the OLW challenge came from Ali Edwards. She is once again offering a class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking if you'd like to join in (or you can choose a word on your own). Here's her suggestion for picking a word:

Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2012? It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought, or a feeling, or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you.
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life.

1 | Improve my # of books completed in the 52 Challenge (>30).
2 | Complete all 4 seasonal challenges this year.
3 | Read at least 10 books from my 100 list.
4 | Start at least one more new book club tradition.
5 | Apply my One Little Word, CHANGE, to my reading this year.

One Little Word

I've been following Ali Edwards' blog for awhile. Since 2006 she has been encouraging her readers to participate in One Little Word. It has been life changing for her and others. I decided to participate this year. Here is what Ali has to say about it:
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life.
In 2006, I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January — a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, and story. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They've been imbedded into who I am, and into who I'm becoming. They've been what I've needed (and didn't know I needed). They've helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, and to grow.
My word for 2011 is light.
You can sign up to take her class at BPC for $36 (or just play along without signing up).
I have chosen the word CHANGE for 2011. I'm going to apply it to my reading (and life in general) and see what happens.
What word will you pick?
