1. He was born in Vancouver in 1973.
2. He earned his B.A. in anthropology and sociology from Wesleyan University and his M.F.A. in fiction writing from Columbia University.
3. He has won The Paris Review Discovery Prize, a Pushcart Prize and a Henfield Foundation award.
4. His first short story collection, Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned was just published in 2009; it was a finalist for The Story Prize.
