Saturday Spotlight

Today's author is Michael Lewis.


1. He was born October 15, 1960 in New Orleans.
2. He attended Princeton University and received a BA in art history.
3. He also earned a masters degree in economics from the London School of Economics.
4. He was a bond salesman at Salomon Brothers in London; his first book, Liar's Poker, was about that experience.
5. His book The New New Thing focused on the Silicon Valley technological scene.
6. Another one of his books, Moneyball, investigated the success of Billy Beane and the Oakland A's, a baseball team which won consistently despite low funding.
7. He has worked as a visiting fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.
8. He is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair.
9. His 2006 book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, was adapted for film and is currently in theaters; it was one of the top 10 grossing films of 2009 even though it didn't come out until 11/20.
